ChatGPT is Still the King of Chatbots in Offices: AI Adoption Soars, But US Workplaces Lag Behind

AI has become a critical tool in today's workplaces with ChatGPT being the most widely adopted globally.

A DeskTime study surveyed 2,385 employees from 97 businesses on AI adoption between January 2023 to December 2024, revealing that 75.9% of offices worldwide used ChatGPT in daily routine.

India is the top adopter of ChatGPT, with an impressive 92% of workplaces utilizing this AI tool as part of their movement towards digitalization and AI-based productivity.

In the US, growth in AI adoption is slower than the global average; 68% of businesses used ChatGPT in 2023, rising to 72% in 2024. Meanwhile, personal employee use increased from 17% in 2023 to 28.3% in 2024.

Some companies like Apple, Amazon, and Bank of America have restricted or banned the use of ChatGPT due to concerns over security and confidentiality, particularly in businesses dealing with sensitive information.

Even outside the corporate sector, ChatGPT has found extensive use, for example, the California State University extended ChatGPT access to half a million students through the ChatGPT Edu integration.
